Dear friends,
We put Brody in the bath every night at the same time and lately he will not fall asleep for two hours. He stays in his bed with Millo by his side. Millo sleeps at the foot of the bed. Brody gives him the sign to "jump on" and Millo does as asked. Brody can feed Millo now. It took us 11 months to learn how, but we have it mastered it...
Any suggestions for sleeping?

Kids need time to lie in bed and process everything that has happened during the whole day. if he is laying in bed happily then there is nothing wrong with letting him do that, unless of course he is too tired in the morning to get up for school
thanks vicki
Our little guy used to take at least an hour to get to sleep every night. Sleep disturbances are really common in kids with Fragile X. We now use melatonin, under our pediatrician's supervision, and it is working beautifully for the falling asleep part (not so much for the staying asleep!). Good luck with whatever methods you try!
Melatonin!!! I give Punkin 1mg every night. I attended a section at the FX Conference this past summer that said melatonin (available over the counter) and clonodine (prescription) are both the best meds for FXers who need help sleeping. Punkin would do the same thing-- he would ask to go to bed and then would be unable to actually calm down enough for an hour or two. I think laying in bed awake for 20-30 minutes is expected, but two hours is a long time.
