Music, Music, and Marcy Jo's Mealhouse....

Well today we saw a glimpse of hope that Brody might wear headphones. I am reaching out to anyone who has an old Sony Walkman to think of Brody and send them our way. Email me if you need our address. In our situation, the newest and greatest isn't for Brody. You can't eat an old Sony Walkman or a VCR tape quite as easily as an Ipod or DVD. If Brody doesn't chew on it, then he gives it to his service dog Millo. We put the music to our ears and then finally Brody put on the headphones for a second. It was beautiful.
Tonight Brody gave Millo the sign to "jump on" his bed to go to sleep. We are so blessed that Brody puts himself to bed most every night. He is tired by 7:00 and ready for bath and bed. It is the little things that make the smiles on our faces. He had behavior therapy today with work baskets and also came home with speech homework. Brody does not speak, but we are working on total communication and mostly he signs. We are hoping to purchase a Go Talk for him for Christmas. Does anyone have one and do you like it?
Now for some fun stuff....
We had a shop meeting today at Marcy Jo's Mealhouse in Pottsville, Tn and the food and fellowship was awesome. We met Rory there of the Joey+Rory country music duo. Rory's sister and Joey own the mealhouse and bakery. I highly recommend it to anyone. They are open for breakfast and lunch. Visit their website www.marcyjos.com
There were 16 of us hairdressers there and they were so kind to us.
We had a group of exceptional adults come to the salon from up state New York today and we were blessed to be recommended to them. We also left business cards for Marcy, Rory and Joey at the mealhouse. One of our girls did a lady's hair for the CMA Awards tonight. All of our efforts are paying off. Thanks for listening .......
By the way, I asked the school system to allow Brody's service dog again and we were denied.

Can I ask you a kinda dumb question? What kinds of things does Brody's service dog do for him? I wonder if our little guy will benefit from a service dog when he is older.

I may have a sony AM/FM/Cassette walkman at my office. I will check Monday. If I remember correctly it's water proof and may stand up to some chewing...
